Today's Progress

I focused on refining the save system today, mostly making sure the "Restart" system works properly (it previously stored all the stats you gained before restarting), and ditching the old save-at-will system with an autosave system - I was afraid that if players could save at will, they could easily just revert their choices. The game also has a new starting passage that's empty except for the purpose of checking if there's a saved game, and loading it if there is - if there isn't a saved game, it will take you back to the start screen. I still need to tweak it so it works properly, since as of now it always loads your saved games - even if you restarted.

The loading isn't much of a problem, since once you move past the intro page it autosaves and takes care of the problem. It's just a small bug that I'll fix later on.

I also released a demo video, which shows off the basic features of the game as of now.

Great Expanse v.0.0.1 Pre-Alpha Test Build Released!

Hey folks!

The first public release of Great Expanse has been released, and is available for download on our Downloads page on ModDB. It doesn't contain much gameplay, but it's primary purpose is to serve as a proof-of-concept and a method for me to get feedback, criticism, bug reports, and typo reports. If the internet won't correct my grammar and spelling, then who will?!

There isn't much content in yet. All it contains is the finished character creation (which is subject to change, and contains no music or art), and the incomplete first passage of Chapter 1. There is also no way to save or load the game as of now, but there isn't much reason too - once there is enough gameplay to warrant a savegame, I'll definitely add the function.

If you're interested in sending me feedback, suggestions, or criticism, then please feel free to e-mail me!

Also, here are some social media links that I will use to update the community more regularly than ModDB (ModDB is mainly going to be used for major developments, while Blogspot is for smaller update, and Twitter for little tidbits)
